The future of a new Youth Wellness Hub in Greater Napanee remains uncertain after council voted to sell the requested building location.
At a May 13 meeting, the Greater Napanee Youth Services Coalition asked to use 12 Market Square for a one-year pilot project to support local youth. However, the town had already planned to sell the building to fund upgrades to Town Hall and Market Square.
Staff recommended moving forward with the sale but also suggested continuing talks with the youth coalition to find another location.
Councillor Bob Norrle supported the coalition, calling it a small investment in youth. Councillor Angela Hicks urged a focus on securing a permanent home for the hub instead of a short-term solution.
Council voted to list 12 Market Square for sale and asked staff to report back on other location options by July 16.
