The chair of the Hastings-Lennox & Addington-Tyendinaga (HLAT) Liberal Association says the federal election brought both disappointment and hope. While the local result didn’t go their way, Aline Lamere says the national outcome is exciting for the party.
She says Liberals are thrilled to see Mark Carney become Canada’s new Prime Minister. They’re also happy about Chris Malette’s win in Bay of Quinte and Mark Gerretsen’s re-election in Kingston and the Islands.
Lamere offered special congratulations to Bruce Fanjoy, who beat Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre in the Carleton riding — a major upset.
Lamere thanked both long-time and new volunteers who helped during the campaign. She says the HLAT riding association is already planning for the next election.
Their goal is to choose a local candidate early and build strong support. Lamere hopes more people will volunteer and join their team. For details, contact hlatliberals@gmail.com.
