Correctional service of Canada is reporting the death of an inmate at Bath Institution.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Zafar Ullah, a 59-year-old inmate died while in custody from apparent natural causes. Ullah had been serving a life sentence since April 30, 1999.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) confirmed the death and notified the inmate’s next of kin. Following standard protocol, CSC has informed both the police and the coroner about the death. An official review of the circumstances surrounding Ullah’s passing is underway, as is the case with all inmate deaths.
