Prince Edward County police arrested a 24-year-old man early May 17 after a dirt bike crash in Bloomfield. At about 2:30 a.m., an OPP officer heard a loud dirt bike followed by unusual noises and silence near Bloomfield Main and Stanley Street. The officer found the rider and bike damaged on the sidewalk, along with a broken signpost nearby.
The rider, Riley Hicks of Prince Edward County, was not injured but was arrested for impaired operation. He faces charges including operating a vehicle while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, and two counts of driving without insurance.
Hicks was released but must appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 4. His driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days, and the dirt bike was impounded for seven days. Police remind residents to stay safe and report impaired drivers immediately.
