A bakery and butcher shop are set to open on Richmond Boulevard in Napanee after council approved a rezoning application for the property during its May 13, 2025, meeting.
The property, previously zoned as Light Industrial, will now be designated as Business Park to allow for food services. The change will let Red Tree Developments move forward with plans to open a bakery and butcher shop in a newly constructed building on the five-hectare site.
Red Tree Developments also plans to develop the remaining land into a business park subdivision.
The butcher shop will include meat processing and sales, while the bakery will operate in the second, currently vacant, unit. Council and town staff agreed the location is a better fit for light commercial use than heavy industry.
The site borders the former CN rail spur line, which is set to become part of a future in-town trail system.
No public objections were raised, and agencies including Quinte Conservation and the County of Lennox and Addington expressed no concerns.
Council approved the rezoning, calling it good land use planning and in the public interest.
