A Deseronto home was destroyed in an early morning fire on May 15, 2025, but quick action by firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby houses.
Crews from the Deseronto Fire Department responded to the call at 354 Thomas Street shortly after 5 a.m. They arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames and immediately took a defensive approach to fight the fire.
The house was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the single structure, keeping it from reaching neighbouring properties.
Officials have confirmed the building is a total loss. The fire department expressed thanks to residents in the area who alerted neighbours and called 9-1-1, as well as to those who cooperated with emergency crews by staying clear of the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
