It’s Election Day across Canada and millions have already had their say.
Elections Canada reports that more than 7.3 million people voted early between Friday, Apr. 18 and Monday, Apr. 21, 2025. That’s a 25 per cent jump compared to 2021, when about 5.8 million voted early.
In Ontario, nearly 2.8 million ballots were cast during the Easter long weekend, up from 2.2 million in the last general election.
Locally, Elections Canada says Lanark-Frontenac led the way with 30,003 advance votes, or 33.70 per cent of registered voters. Hastings-Lennox and Addington-Tyendinaga saw 25,158 early votes, or 27.03 per cent.
Other area results include 22,800 early votes in Bay of Quinte and 27,845 in Kingston and the Islands.
