Not the road game the Raiders were hoping for Friday night, falling to the Barons who have tied their semi final series. But they’d quickly bound back at home Sunday night!
Friday night in Hanover, the Raiders scored first with a goal by Blake Aylesworth. The Barons scored late in the period to tie to game at 1-1. Andrew Carr scored the Raiders second goal of the night near the halfway point of the second period to regain their lead. A few minutes later, Hanover would score their second of the night to tie the game once again. Then with 5-seconds left in the period, the Barons scored their third of the night for a 3-2 lead. Hanover then scored their fourth goal of the night just before the halfway point of the third period for a 4-2 Hanover lead. Nearing the end of the period, the barons then scored on the empty Raiders net for a 5-2 Barons win.
Sunday evening in Napanee, the Raiders lead 1-0 early in the first thanks to a goal by Ben White. Hanover then scored twice to tie the game and take the lead. But not too long after, Matthew Airhart and Blake Aylesworth of the Raiders scored to tie and regain their lead at 3-2. The second period saw just two goals for the Barons to lead the Raiders 4-3. Late in the third period, Carter Hartwick scored for the Raiders to tie the game and send things to overtime. It was Michael Patrick 19 seconds into overtime for a 5-4 Raiders win!
The Raiders are 19-6 so far in the playoffs. The Raiders now lead their Schmalz Cup Semi Final series against Hanover 3-2. The Hanover Barons are now 18-4 in the playoffs.
