What an exciting start for the Napanee Raiders as they begin their journey to the Schmalz Cup!
Friday, February 21st the Napanee Raiders hosted Trent Hills for game one of their first round playoff series. First period saw three unanswered goals for the Raiders scored by Alex Case, Spencer Cranley, and Michael Patrick for a 3-0 lead. Second period saw Alex Case score his second of the night near the halfway point of the period. That goal was quickly followed by the Raiders fifth goal of the night, scored by Erik MacNiel. It was at this point Trent Hills would replace their goalie. The third period saw Blake Aylesworth score his first of the playoffs and the Raiders sixth of the night for a 6-0 win! Logan Vale earning the shutout.
Sunday, February 23rd, the Raiders hit the road to play Trent Hills, who opened the scoring for this afternoons game. The Raiders then scored two goals by Alex Case and Spencer Cranley for a 2-1 lead. Napanee collected two more goals in the second period, scored by Christos Chronis and Spencer Cranley. The Thunder scored late in the period for a 4-2 Raiders lead. Then it was all Napanee in the third period with goals by Andrew Carr, Ben White (2), Michael Patrick, and Issac Brown for a 9-2 Raiders win!
The Raiders are 2-0 so far in the playoffs. Looking to the other Tod division matchup’s, Lakefield is 2-0 against Picton, Amherstview is 2-0 against Port Hope, and Frankford is 1-0 against North Kawartha.
