Greater Napanee council has officially declared Feb. 22, 2025, as Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY), supporting a national fundraiser that helps people facing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.
The event features a 2.5 km or 5 km walk in communities across Canada, raising money for local charities. In 190 communities, CNOY has already raised over $75,000, with 100 per cent of funds staying local.
In Napanee, the fundraiser benefits Morningstar Mission, a vital community resource. The mission provides meals, a pantry program, a warming centre, a winter coat drive, and more for people struggling with poverty.
Council approved the proclamation request, put forward by Lynda Carney, showing its support for both the fundraiser and Morningstar Mission’s work.
As of the time of publication, CNOY Napanee has raised 47% of their $100,000 goal. Residents can join the walk or donate to help those in need. More details are available on the Coldest Night of the Year website.
