Greater Napanee Town council has approved the transfer of a fire prevention and public education trailer to South Frontenac. The trailer, funded through a TransCanada grant, is currently shared by multiple fire departments across the region, but Napanee has assumed full responsibility for it. South Frontenac’s fire chief requested ownership, which will help reduce logistical issues and relieve Napanee of the maintenance and transportation burden.
Under the new arrangement, South Frontenac will assume full liability, including insurance and upkeep costs. The transfer is expected to streamline operations for all involved departments. Council confirmed that there are no concerns regarding the grant’s original funding agreement, which came from TransCanada.
The motion to transfer the trailer was approved unanimously, with the formal agreement set to finalize shortly. This decision will help improve fire prevention efforts across the region while ensuring more efficient resource use.
