The Town of Greater Napanee is warning residents about a phone scam involving fake fire blanket giveaways. Scammers are calling people, claiming they have won a fire blanket and asking to enter their homes to deliver it.
The Greater Napanee Fire Department has no connection to this scam and does not make such calls. Officials urge residents to be cautious and never allow strangers into their homes.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call should report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. More information on fraudulent calls can be found on their website.
Authorities remind residents to stay alert and protect themselves from potential scams.
