Greater Napanee council has adopted its 2025 Operating and Capital Budgets with an interim levy of $16.2 million. The levy will be ratified at the next regular meeting on February 11.
Before the budget discussion, Ellen Hamel, General Manager of Financial Services, warned of potential tariffs and their possible impact on the budget. She explained that any budget item exceeding $100,000 would be brought to council for approval.
Hamel also noted that tariffs could affect capital items, particularly the fleet, and could force the council to use fleet reserves, cancel projects, or reprioritize funds.
In a separate motion, Councillor Pinnell proposed using reserves for new flooring at the Home Hardware Arena. After some discussion, this motion was approved by council.
The budget adoption ensures continued funding for essential services and capital projects, with the final approval set for February 11.
