A 34-year-old Ottawa driver is facing impaired driving and other charges following a single-vehicle collision on Highway 401 near the Shannonville Road off-ramp early Wednesday morning.
Lennox and Addington County OPP responded to the scene shortly before 1:00 a.m. on January 8, 2025, where they found a heavily damaged, unattended vehicle. A call from a nearby location led police to Romolo Balestra, who was arrested and charged.
Charges include impaired operation (alcohol), operation over 80 mgs, dangerous operation, failing to remain, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Balestra’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded. The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing later in the day in Greater Napanee.
