After eight and a half years of service, Tom da Silva has retired from the Board of Directors and as President and Chair of the Community Foundation for Lennox and Addington.
While serving on the Board, the Community Foundation has significantly expanded its impact and grown as an organization while focusing on addressing community issues through its grant programs and managing its endowment fund.
myFM spoke with Executive Director Bob Baker, who told us da Silva is leaving the Community Foundation in good hands.
da Silva also feels he’s leaving the foundation in a good space and speaks highly of incoming Board President David Field.
During da Silva’s time on the Board, the Community Foundation expanded its reach to all Lennox & Addington municipalities, prompting a name change. It launched the 180° Funds for urgent needs in health, environment, and poverty, managed $537,000 in pandemic recovery funding, and approved a 2024 strategic plan to boost local funding.
Baker says to honour Tom da Silva’s leadership and service, the Community Foundation Board has created the Tom da Silva Fund. This fund will support the Foundation’s mission and operations, enhancing its impact across Lennox & Addington County.
da Silva concluded in saying the Community Foundation is as good as the Community itself.
