Five drivers were charged with stunt driving on Highway 401 in Lennox & Addington County over the long weekend, despite Ontario’s stricter stunt driving laws implemented in 2021.
On October 12, a 22-year-old Brampton man was caught driving at 150 km/h around 3:00 a.m., followed by a 41-year-old Brampton man driving at 155 km/h at 5:00 a.m. Later that day, a 63-year-old man from Killaloe was charged for driving 140 km/h on Highway 41.
On October 14, two vehicles were caught racing at 200 km/h. A 38-year-old from Kingston and a 58-year-old from Kanata were both charged.
All drivers had their licenses suspended for 30 days, and their vehicles impounded for 14 days. They are scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Greater Napanee.
Police urge the public to report reckless driving to 911.
