The community is rallying together to support local parents Jessica Boomhower and Toby Dee, who are the proud parents of Khloe Lynn Dee.
“Khloe was born extremely premature at only 22 weeks gestation,” Mom Jessica shared in an interview with myFM. “We were emergently rushed from Kingston General hospital following a 5 day stay to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto where Khloe was born on July 16th, 2024 weighing only 1lb 2oz.” Then at just a week old, they were transferred to Sick Kids hospital, where Khloe underwent her first major surgery for a perforated bowel. “She has since undergone surgeries for an Omaha Reservoir insertion into her brain and a PDA closure in her heart.”
As both parents are away from home to be by their daughter’s bed side, family and friends have come together to host a fundraiser to support them. “The community’s generosity will allow us the ability to remain with our daughter as she continues to fight for her life,” Jessica shared. Khloe is expected to remain in hospital until January 2025.
