A section of the Millennium Trail will be closed for about a week starting today, Thursday, September 19. The closure will affect the trail between Belleville Street and Clemson Street. This temporary closure is necessary for crews to remove tree stumps as part of the ongoing Wellington water and sewer trunk construction project.
The project aims to upgrade the watermain and sewer systems in the Wellington area to support current and future development. New water and sewer trunks will run from existing treatment plants along Wellington Main Street, Cleminson Street, and the Millennium Trail, eventually connecting to a new water tower on Belleville Street.
Additionally, the project includes a new sanitary pumping station on the Millennium Trail near West Street. The upgrades are designed to improve water distribution and wastewater management, with the entire project expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
