The Ontario government is investing over $5.7 million in 85 projects to support job creation and economic development in rural areas through the Rural Economic Development (RED) program. The funding will help diversify local economies, build community capacity, and tackle labour force challenges.
In Belleville, the Downtown District Business Improvement Association is receiving up to $57,427 to launch an in-person Membership Care Program. This initiative will connect businesses to services, provide staff training, and improve communication, helping address workforce challenges and attract investment.
The Corporation of Prince Edward County is also receiving $65,000 for their Workforce Development Training for Community Benefit project. The project will create a framework to train and develop skilled local workers, strengthening the regional workforce.
The RED program offers cost-shared funding for projects that improve rural community development, create jobs, and remove barriers to economic growth across Ontario.
