The local hockey community is grieving the loss of Troy Wylie, 31, who died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident last week.
Wylie, a beloved athlete known for his exceptional skills in soccer, football, and hockey, played for the Napanee Raiders from 2011-2015 and was a current member of the Deseronto Bulldogs.
Tributes from friends, family, and the sporting community highlight his kindness, dedication, and positive impact.
The Napanee Raiders shared, “He was incredibly dedicated through good times and bad. He was remembered by those who played with him and coached him as a great teammate, a hard worker, and a kind, respectful person away from the rink who loved his family and friends. ” Raiders GM Adam Bramburger praised Wylie for his intelligence, respectfulness, and commitment to the team.
The Bulldogs noted his incredible dedication, heart, selflessness, work ethic and positivity. “Troy had a massive impact on our organization both on and off the ice, a player who never complained about icetime, lineup changes or role/position that was asked of him on any given night. Troy was everything an organization searches for in a player, good hockey players that are even better people.”
In addition to his sports career, Wylie worked as a mason and taught masonry at St. Lawrence College.
His father, Pete Wylie, expressed profound shock and gratitude for the outpouring of support and tributes that reflect Troy’s remarkable character and the joy he brought to others.
