The Town of Greater Napanee will celebrate local rugby star Brittany Benn by installing a new community showcase in the Strathcona Paper Centre (soon to be Best & Bash Arena) lobby.
Town Council received a report during their meeting this week about creating the display to honour her accomplishments.
Benn, a native of Greater Napanee, has had a remarkable rugby career, including winning Olympic bronze in 2016 and serving as an assistant coach for Queen’s Women’s Rugby. Benn will be in good company, having her display alongside fellow Napanee greats Avril Lavigne and Leroy Blugh.
To accommodate the new display, the Napanee Raiders’ showcase will be moved to the upper lounge. The Council will also develop a process for managing similar requests in the future.
A ceremony to unveil the showcase is planned for September 2024.
