Central Hastings OPP is investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred on Highway 62, north of Madoc, on Sunday, August 25, 2024. The crash happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. when two pick-up trucks collided head-on.
The driver of one vehicle, a 74-year-old man from Stirling, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 68-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the same vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by Hastings-Quinte Paramedics.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 64-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A 58-year-old woman in that vehicle also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Central Hastings Detachment officers, with assistance from OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators, are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Highway 62 was closed for several hours as authorities conducted the on-scene investigation.
