From the ashes rises the Enright family. In late June, Quinn’s Meats in Yarker went up in flames.
Kara and Darold Enright took over the abattoir in 2021 from founders Brian and Brenda Quinn, who first opened their doors in 1976.
myFM spoke with Kara Enright, who says they’d like to rebuild and reopen.
In the mean time, the family is keeping busy with their farm, Enright Cattle Company. They’re getting some of their beef processed at other local abattoirs to be able to supply some beef for home deliveries and to regular wholesale clients.
And every August, they host a dinner in the crop circle.
Other ways the community can continue to support the family during this time is by visiting their pick-your-own blueberry farm in Tweed. As well, both their son and daughter have begun their own projects. Corbin began a business this summer raising pasture raised meat chickens and Evelyn has started some laying hens, both fully taking care of their own chickens.
Kara has shared a big thank you message with the community.
