UPDATE July 22, 12:20pm: Highway 401 westbound remains closed between County Road 4 and Palace Road in Napanee as L&A OPP investigate last night’s serious collision. We now know 2 vehicles and a motorcycle were involved.
One vehicle contained five occupants. Three of them were taken to the hospital, with one person being seriously hurt. The second vehicle had just one person inside, who was also taken to the hospital but with less serious injuries. The motorcyclist was also taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The highway is expected to re-open later today.

Highway 401 westbound between County Road 4 and Palace Road remains closed this morning.
The Highway closed shortly after 9:30pm Sunday night. The L&A OPP shared they were on scene for a multi-vehicle collision. It was predicted the highway would be closed for several hours.
No word yet on when it will reopen or if there are any serious injuries.
The emergency detour route is currently in place: Travel south on County Rd 4 – west on County Rd 2 – north on Palace Rd – back on Hwy 401.
