Public Services and Procurement Canada is working with Priestly Demolition Inc. to restore access for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. They plan to install a temporary modular bridge by the end of September. This bridge will allow vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists to cross.
The marine navigation channel will stay open until the bridge installation begins.
After installation, the temporary bridge may be removed and reinstalled a few times before the end of the navigation season to allow marine traffic to pass. During these times, vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians won’t be able to use the bridge. Exact dates for these interruptions will be announced in advance.
No decision has been made yet about how often these interruptions will happen in 2025 and beyond. Public Services and Procurement Canada will work with the community to minimize disruptions.
The temporary bridge will be used until a permanent replacement bridge is built.
