The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board welcomed local representatives to J.J. O’Neill Catholic School in Napanee Tuesday, June 18, to celebrate the ground breaking on the school’s expansion.
In May 2024, the ALCDSB got approval for a $22.6 million addition to the school, which will include 331 student spaces, 14 classrooms, and 3 childcare rooms.
In February 2022, the school received $9.9 million from the province to improve the school. Then in April 2022, the school was selected as 1 of 5 Ontario Elementary Schools for Rapid Build Pilot Project.
“This major addition will provide exciting opportunities for our elementary students in Napanee and area,” said David DeSantis, Director of Education. “Our Catholic school board is focused on providing innovative learning communities which will allow our students to reach their potential through faith and service.”
The project, designed by Salter Pilon Architecture Inc., will begin this summer, with the completion date yet to be determined.
