Over the past ten years, the town of Deseronto has lost many mature trees due to severe weather and decay. To address this, the town created a Tree Canopy Policy and a Tree Replacement Plan.
The policy ensures a new tree is planted for each one removed on town property, as long as the location is suitable and doesn’t interfere with roads, sidewalks, infrastructure, or future development. The town council is dedicated to maintaining Deseronto’s tree canopy, even though it may not always be possible to replace every tree.
Starting this year, Deseronto will replace trees lost in 2023 and continue to replace any removed in the future. Residents are encouraged to help monitor new trees and report any issues to the Town Hall.
