Greater Napanee Town council received an update during this meeting this week on the proposed battery storage projects.
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) recently released that of the four projects that received support from the Council in November, only the natural gas expansion at the Napanee Generating Station (NGS) was chosen. None of the Battery Energy Storage System projects were selected in this procurement round for Greater Napanee.
The proposed project at NGS involves installing a hydrogen-ready simple cycle combustion turbine generator that will add up to 430 MW of electricity to Ontario’s grid.
Atura Power is now hold a public meeting for the project tomorrow, May 16 at South Fred hall as part of their engagement process. They’re inviting the community to learn more about the Napanee Generating Station Expansion project and provide feedback. Members of staff and Council have also been invited.
