Local police would like to share some tips on how to avoid falling prey to fake financial phishing scams.
In a recent phishing scam, cybercriminals send an email with a vague financial subject, urging you to click on an attachment named “Payment Advice.”
The email appears to be from a legitimate sender but is actually fake. If you open the attachment, malware will install on your computer, stealing sensitive information like login credentials.
To avoid falling victim: Be skeptical of suspicious emails with grammatical errors, double-check email addresses for authenticity, and never open unexpected attachments, especially from unknown senders.
