The Clarington Eagles now lead the Napanee Raiders 2-1 in their Eastern Conference Final series following a pair of weekend games.
Saturday night, the Raiders scored first at the SPC with a goal by Marshal McFarland in the first period. Nearing the end of the period Clarington would score and tie the game. It was a one sided second period that saw three goals scored for the Eagles, breaking the tie and giving them a 4-1 lead. Halfway through the third period Napanee’s Connor Brooks would score to bring the Raiders within 2 goals. Then with 33 seconds left, Clarington scored a shorthanded goal on the empty net for a 5-2 win.
Sunday afternoon in Clarington, after a scoreless first period it would be the Eagles who would score first in the second period for a 1-0 lead. During the third period, Christos Chronis scored for the Raiders to tie the game at 1-1. Michael Patrick scored to give the Raiders their first lead of the night at 2-1. But Clarington would quickly retaliate to tie the game once again at 2-2 to send us to overtime. Just over 5 minutes into overtime, Reid Lambert scored for the Raiders for their first win of the series.
