The man who murdered three Ottawa Valley women that sparked a movement to end intimate partner violence has died.
Basil Borutski died of apparent natural causes while in custody at Millhaven Institution in Bath.
The 66-year-old was handed an indeterminate sentence after killing his ex partners Nathalie Warmerdam, Anastasia Kuzyk, and Carol Culleton over one September day in 2015.
The slayings led to 86 recommendations being made by the jury at the inquest into their murders.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) reports that the inmate’s next of kin have been notified. CSC policy also requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the CSC will review the circumstances.
