Everyone loves the idea of having a cute little bunny as a pet – but not everyone thinks about the chewed wires, droppings, and future expenses of having this cute animal in the home.
We spoke with animal welfare advocate Cathie Hoskin who is asking families to reconsider having a rabbit waiting as a special easter “gift” this year.
Hoskin says she sees the value they can bring to a family – but those families must also be prepared for things like wires that will be chewed and messes that will be made.
The bedding, the cage, the food, and the time are also big factors to consider with this animal that can live up to 12 years.
She suggests families do their research before introducing a bunny into their house to make sure it will be it’s forever home.
