The W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre will be closed for construction at the end of this month until September. The centre will be closed to the public effective Monday, March 25th.
The renovated Recreation Centre will reopen on September 3rd, 2024, featuring upgraded facilities. The pool area will remain under construction until the end of 2025.
During this closure, residents can use the Amherstview Branch of Lennox and Addington Libraries. Bag tag and dog tag purchases should be done online or at alternative locations listed online.
As for the Amherstview Jets, looking to their second round series that will likely be against Port Hope, it looks like they will be able to fit that series in before the closure. If they make it to the third round of the Tod Division Final, Coach and GM Denis Duchesne told myFM they have many plan B in place, including working with the City of Kingston in securing ice times. “We are excited that the township is going ahead with all these upgrades especially our new dressing room,” the coach shared. “Come next season if all goes according to plan we will be moving into our state of the art dressing room. Staff and players are looking forward to this.”
A construction ceremony will be held on March 23rd during the Spring Egg Hunt, where residents can learn more about the project and opportunities for involvement.
