As you prepare for the holidays, the Town of Greater Napanee is sharing some tips if you’re considering reducing waste when shopping, wrapping gifts, decorating, and preparing meals.
When gift giving and shopping, think about gifting an experience, choose products with less packaging, and shop local! Shopping local reduces shipping and packaging.
But when it comes to throwing out that packaging after Christmas morning, the OPP wants you to be careful.
That was Constable Andrew Gamble, who says it’s important that you consider just what you are doing – you’re putting that box out on full display letting would be thieves know that a hot ticket item is located inside.
He also gave a reminder about porch pirates as you get those boxing day orders in. You’re encouraged to get deliveries sent to the post office, to your home on a day you know you will be there, or at the very least, putting up cameras to scare any potential thieves from walking up and taking the gift.
