Lennox and Addington OPP recovered two stolen vehicles and have arrested two men.
On December 19, 2023, before 9:00 a.m., the L&A County OPP got a call about a stolen truck heading east on Hwy 401 towards Tyendinaga Township. Another police unit had detected this stolen truck using a system called Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) and informed the L&A OPP. When the police reached the truck at Deseronto Road, they turned on their lights, but the truck didn’t stop. The police used a spike belt to deflate the truck’s tires at Palace Road, causing it to exit at County Road 4.
While following the stolen truck, OPP got another hit for a stolen Jeep also heading east on Hwy 401 at County Road 4. The police blocked the Jeep, and it stopped without any issues. They arrested the person inside without any issue.
The person driving the stolen truck entered a field near County Road 4 and County Road 2 and ran away. The police, with the help of canine units from Kingston Police and the OPP, searched the area and found the man. They arrested him without any trouble.
As a result of the stolen Jeep incident, L&A County OPP charged a 36-year-old man from Saint-Hubert, Quebec, with possession of stolen property worth more than $5000, having a master key for cars, and driving while prohibited.
From the stolen truck incident, L&A County OPP charged a 27-year-old man from Lachine, Quebec, with possession of stolen property worth more than $5000, evading a police officer, dangerous driving, and obstructing a peace officer.
