The Morningstar Mission continues to support our community in more ways than one. Whether that be through their foodbank, the warming centre, or the over 50,000 meals they serve in a year.
myFM spoke with Kevin Alkenbrack, Executive Director, who said they held a Giving Tuesday campaign so that they could be very generous with their Christmas meal this year.
This year’s Roast Beef Christmas Dinner takes place Monday, December 25th at 1:00pm at the Napanee Lion’s Hall. Delivery is available by registering on their website.
New this year, the warming centre was able to open three weeks early and will stay open two weeks later.
Alkenbrack says they’ve seen a tripling of the homeless community this year. To accommodate, they’ve had to move their foodbank and clothing to Grace United Church so that they can use that space at Morningstar to expand the warming centre from nine pods to 17.
Their foodbank is also in need of some staples. Alkenbrack says there is always a need for protein.
To make a donation, you can visit the Morningstar Mission at 58 Water St. in Napanee.
