Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue has made permanent changes to burn permits, allowing open-air burning until March 1, reducing frequent status changes due to weather.
Burn permits remain essential, requiring activation before burning, and lasting 12 hours.
Renew 2023 permits before December 31 and buy 2024 permits for $25 beginning January 1 online.
Property owners can buy permits online and can activate them by phone or online.
Multiple property owners need separate permits. Short-term accommodation owners must get permits for each property, informing guests about permit activation.
Current permits must be activated for each burning instance, allowing various fire types except for specific exemptions like natural gas or propane fire pits.
