There is an endless fountain of talent flowing out of the Harmony Lounge & Music Club in Napanee. The club, situated at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, aims to offer young people unrestricted access to music education, fostering a safe, fun, and welcoming community.
To showcase to the community their amazing students, they’re releasing an album!
The first debut single off the album “Nothingness” is out now and is performed and written by Napanee’s Jade Peter.
myFM spoke with Jade, who’s written songs in the past, but this was her first time recording and being produced. She says at the beginning she was nervous, but those nerves quickly turned to excitement.
The album has been developed in partnership with Basement Town Records, led by Napanee-based producer and recording engineer Matt Alkenbrack. Jade told us about her experience recording with Matt.
The debut single is a personal song to Jade, about dealing with mental health struggles and experiencing a feeling of nothingness.
Program Director Michelle Hauser tells us the community can expect to be amazed by the level of talent on this album, featuring 8 tracks that are all original recordings from local youth.
This album was made possible thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Anglican Foundation of Canada.
The second single, “Two Ways” by Ethan Stein and Ava Nicholls is set to be released on December 22. The full album will be released on all streaming platforms on Friday, February 23, 2024.
