It’s anti-bullying week in schools across the province and across the Limestone District School Board.
It’s a week dedicated to promoting safe schools and creating positive learning environments.
myFM spoke to the LDSB’s Assocaite Superintendent of Education Patty Gollogly, who said the week is about fostering a sense of belonging in students.
Teachers are also making students aware of some of the resources they can use when they are faced with bullying.
One of those resources is the Human Rights Incidents and Reporting Tool for submitting complaints.
What can parents do at home to support anti-bullying? Gollogly says it’s about starting a conversation with your student about bullying and human rights.
“Ask them ‘What has been going on this week? Have you heard of the human rights reporting tool? Have you heard about Pink Shirt Day? It’s really about opening up that dialogue.”
The week will be capped off with a Pink Shirt day on Friday.
