Did you hear that bell ringing? You guessed it! The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign is back for another year, raising important funds to support the Greater Napanee community.
myFM spoke with Mandy MacDonald, Napanee Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator, who says they are very excited to mark the launch of this year’s campaign on Thursday, November 16th.
After Thursday’s launch, you’ll be able to find kettles and the Salvation Army’s volunteers at Metro, Walmart and No Frills in Napanee. During the month of December, volunteers will also be stationed at the LCBO.
New this year for anyone hoping to make a donation, there will be a tap machine.
These donations will be going to support a number of initiatives that help to make a big difference in our community. The Napanee Salvation Army Food Bank has already helped over 1000 people in 2023, providing 80,260lbs of food. During the 2022 holiday season they provided 200 children with toys for Christmas and 250 families with grocery gift cards for holiday meals. At back-to-school time, the Salvation Army distributed 185 backpacks and school supplies to local kids. They’ve also provided winter boots to 196 children in Lennox and Addington County.

They understand you may be busy, but any chance you may have to volunteer will go a long way.
Mandy also let us know that if you don’t have transportation to get to the kettle but want to volunteer, the Napanee Cab Company has graciously offered to provide complementary ride for volunteers.
The 2023 Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign launches Thursday, November 16th at 10am and will run until Saturday, December 23rd.
