In honour of World COPD Day, the Rural Frontenac Lennox and Addington Allied Health Team and the Napanee Area Community Health Centre partnered together to throw a lung health fair dedicated to the treatment and prevention of COPD.
For those of you wondering what COPD is, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a common lung disease characterized by limited airflow and difficulties in breathing. It is also referred to as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Primary causes of COPD are smoking and workplace hazards.
myFM spoke with Melissa Smith, registered nurse at the NACHC, who told us more about their lung health fair happening Wednesday, November 15th at Selby Community Hall.
Ashley Greveling, respiratory therapist with the RFLA Allied Health Team, told us as an added bonus on behalf of World COPD Day, there is an international baton pass, broadcasting worldwide.
