Thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), the Fairfield-Gutzeit House in Bath will be getting some much needed work done to help restore this historic building. The House is receiving extensive interior and exterior refurbishment thanks in part to a $148,400 Capital grant from the OTF.
The Fairfield-Gutzeit House was built in 1796 by two brothers, William Jr. and Benjamin Fairfield. Its more recent history has seen it operate as a museum, offering locals and visitors an insight into our local history.
Loyalist Township Mayor Jim Hegadorn, shared his thanks to the OTF for providing this grant for this critical restoration project.
Work needed on the building includes the wall cladding, porches, floors, windows, eves and painting.
Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee was in attendance Thursday, and shared how exciting this project is for him having watched this project for many years.
The plan is to reopen the house the summer of 2025.
