What a weekend for the Napanee Raiders!
Friday, November 3rd, the Raiders hosted the Port Hope Panthers at the SPC. It was an exciting start to the game with the Raiders up 3-0 within the first 3 minutes of the game, thanks to goals by Ryan Kidd, Marshal McFarland and Trent Williams. The Panthers would go on to score one of their own to end the period 3-1. Early in the second period Reid Lambert would score the Raiders 4th of the night. Port Hope would only be able to muster 1 goal in the second period. There would then be no goals scored in the third period for a 4-2 Raiders win to end the Panthers 7-game winning streak.
Saturday, November 4th, the Raiders took their first trip of the season to Campbellford to play the winless Rebels. The first period featured 5 unanswered goals for the Raiders, scored by Ben Carter, Trent Williams, Cameron Krupa, and two from affiliated player Jayden Holden, which were 11 seconds apart. The second period would start with Campbellford scoring their first of the night. Blake Aylesworth would answer that less than 30 seconds later with Napanee’s 6th of the night. The Rebels would then score their second. It would then be Ried Lambert with his second of the night to earn a 7-2 lead. Campbellford would go on to score one more for a 7-3 Raiders lead. The Third period saw just two more goals for the Raiders by Ben Carter and Cameron Kurpa for a 9-3 Raiders win.
The Napanee Raiders are tied for fourth place in the East Tod Division standings with a 6-6-0-1 record and 13 points. They sit behind Port Hope (11-3-0-1), Frankford (10-2-2), and Amherstview (7-7-0-0). The Raiders are tied with Picton (6-6-0-1). In sixth place is Campbellford who has yet to win a game this season.
The Raiders return to action Thursday, November 9th, when they will be in Picton to play the Pirates. Puck drop at 7:30pm. They’ll then play at home Friday, November 10th, against Frankford. Puck drop at 7:30pm. To end the weekend, they’re in Amherstview Sunday, November 12th. Puck drop at 1:30pm.
