It’s been an exciting summer for the Napanee Legion, who are now getting ready to unveil their new mural.
This project was possible thanks to the Town of Greater Napanee, Atura Power, and the I Heart Main Street Program
myFM spoke with Peggy Sunstrum, President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 137, who told us they are very proud to be home to this new art instillation.
The mural features artwork of the Flower Class corvette HMCS Her Majesty’s ship Napanee, as well as portraits of local veterans.
Sunstrum told during the early stages of the painting process, the veterans were being recognized.
The mural being created by artist Shane Goudreau, who’s artwork is well known in town, as he also painted the artwork on the silos at L&A Mutual Insurance Co.
The unveiling will take place at noon on September 19th on Water Street behind the legion. Refreshments will be available after in the legion.
