It was a great opening day of the u20 Men’s Fast Pitch Championships for the Host Napanee Express who opened the tournament with a 7-0 win over Haldimand Heat, and an 8-1 win in the evening against Newfoundland Labrador.
During the opening ceremony Tuesday evening, Stephen Paul, president of Soft Ball Napanee, shared that this is the ninth time Napanee has hosted this tournament, and second consecutive year after last minute playing host in 2022.
Paul wanted to extend a thank you to Soft Ball Napanee for all of their work, not only for this event, but throughout the year.
Thanks also to the Town of Greater Napanee for keeping the fields in tip top shape, the Softball Napanee families for volunteering throughout the week, and to all of the sponsors.

Local politicians from the town, federal and provincial governments were in attendance, including representative for Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Shelby Kramp-Nauman, Rebecca Wilkinson, and H-L&A MPP Ric Bresee.
Day two today sees the Express play the Rosebud Jr Royals at 1:30pm and the Tavistock athletics at 6:30pm.
