Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) Commissioner Anne Kelly says Paul Bernardo, who has spent close to the last three decades in Maximum Security prisons in Kingston and Millhaven, will stay in the medium-security prison he was transferred to earlier this year.
Kelly emphasizes that Bernardo underwent a lengthy integration process with other inmates at Millhaven and his new prison, La Macaza in Quebec.
Bernardo will remain in the medium-security prison he was transferred to earlier this year.
Kelly addressed the public outcry over the convicted child-killer and rapist’s move to the facility, saying that the transfer followed the letter of the law.
She also noted that he met the criteria to be moved 14 times since 1999, but was kept in maximum security because of his high-profile status.
