Our local police have been kept busy lately with people travelling a little higher than the posted speed limit.
On the evening of May 28, Lennox and Addington OPP observed a vehicle travelling 174 km/hr on Highway 401. The 22-year-old from New York, New York was charged with stunt driving, and careless driving.
Just a few hours later, they witnessed another vehicle travelling 185 km/hr on Highway 401. The 24-year-old from North York was charged with stunt driving, driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor, and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
All accused are scheduled to appear in court in Greater Napanee at a later date.
The OPP says they are committed to safety for all who utilize Ontario’s roadways and will be increasing enforcement on all highways as the summer traffic volumes increase.
