Two local bands from Napanee are tuning their instruments and getting in some final practice, before a big competition this week.
Greater Napanee’s Harmony Lounge & Music Club has two bands, made up of high school students, who will be taking part in this Saturday’s Juvenis Festival Battle of the Bands in Kingston.
Grade 10 student Jade Peter is the lead singer for Switzerville Sound. She’s joined by Hayden with vocals, Owen on drums, Adam with the guitar, Julia on bass, and Isacc on keys.
Grade 12 student Ethan Stein is the lead singer and guitarist for Nate the Nobody. He told us more about his band.
Both of the performers shared similar sentiments, that they’re feeling a little nervous ahead of this contest, but that they’re super excited as well.
During the competition, Nate the Nobody will be performing two original songs written by Ethan as well as a cover. Switzerville Sound will be performing covers of songs by Evanescence, The Sheepdogs, and Kingston’s own The Glorious Sons.
As one of the older students in the club, Ethan has been a big mentor to Switzerville Sound. He told us how it feels to now be going up against them in the competition.
Community members are invited to attend the competition to cheer on our amazing home grown talent. For more information on the competition, you can visit JuvenisFestival.ca.
Harmony Lounge & Music Club would like to give a shout out to Derek at the Loaf ‘n Ale who has agreed to staff up and stay open late for these bands on Saturday night. Sadly, the after party in Kingston is not open to under 19’s, so Derek stepped in and said he’d “give us a hometown welcome – whether they are commiserating or celebrating.”
