We’ve got some data to share about the OPP’s Easter Long Weekend Blitz, which focused on seatbelt safety.
They report three people lost their lives in motor vehicle collisions, and one person was killed in a snowmobile incident.
During the four-day campaign, officers laid a total of 1,507 seatbelt charges against drivers and passengers who put themselves and others at risk.
Aggressive driving was also a major issue, with 5,186 speeding charges and 129 stunt/racing charges laid.
There were 141 impaired driving and 137 distracted driving charges among the 10,323 offences that officers held motorists accountable for over the weekend.
The OPP extends their thanks to all drivers and road users who do their part to keep our roads safe.
