April is Oral Health Month, and this year’s theme is Oral Health in Public Health.
Local health unit’s are doing their part to spread the word about the importance of oral and dental health, by letting us know about programs for people without dental coverage.
Our neighbouring medical officer of health in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark, Dr. Linna Li highlighted the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program.
Li says teeth and oral health are very important when it comes to mental health, self-perception, and making sure we’re getting the food we need.
She notes that locals may not know about programs offered for people who don’t have dental benefits. This includes the province’s Seniors Dental Care Program and Smiles Program for children and youth.
The doctor adds anyone interest in the new federal dental plan can find out more at Canada.ca.
